HOW DO THE COLOURS OF YOUR CLOTHES EXPRESS YOU?

There are millions of possible situations where your choice of colours can communicate emotions and meanings. Colours that you may use the most and relate to attitudes could be different, depending on what you are doing or how it makes you feel.

Doing something using a set of colours in a way which usually keeps them away from another, can express a feeling or attitude. This can be as little experience as using red, as more likely to a specific style of dressing in only black, while overdoing any colour combination is less show-stoppingly formal.

Colour is one of the few means available to anyone to convey feeling, mood or personality in a piece of artwork. There are six properties of colour: hue, chroma, lightness, saturation, purity (or depth) and value.

The choice and use of colours in the art can greatly contribute to the effect or sensation that the artist wishes to convey. Conscious thinking about colours is called colour theory. The range of all possible colours on the spectrum may be divided into categories based on wavelength; simply generally categorized as long and short wavelengths. Red, orange and yellow hues elicit some strong emotional responses from viewers due to my activating an area of their retina known as REM (rapid eye movement).

Use of colour is invariably utilized to represent a certain feeling or emotion. And as every company wants its brand to have a personality of its own, this is an important aspect that cannot be overlooked. Your choice of colours can reinforce your identity and can even determine the kind of personality you are trying to portray.

Research suggests that the colours of your clothes can affect how you feel. For example, studies have shown that red clothes or coloured paper can stimulate hunger and make people eat more. It may also be linked with having sexual fantasies. Wearing a vibrant pink might give away that you are hardworking and determined while wearing dull blue could depict a negative mood status like sadness or anger toward those around you.

Generally speaking, the colour red will make you feel confident, bold and ready to take charge of any situation. People also associate it with anger and envy too. When it comes to self-expression, white is perfect for a more formal occasion due to its simplicity. Whereas black is thought of as powerful in some cultures because it creates subtlety when coupled with other colours like pink or purple.

Different colours can have different effects on a person. You may be changing moods, for instance, depending on the colour that you are wearing. Wearing colours like yellow makes us feel like it’s a sunny day, while dark colours can make us feel morbid and depressed.

For example, taking into account your personality type will help you choose colours that suit the way you see the world. Here is a list of personalities and the best colour for them to reflect who they are:

- Analysts wear navy blue: It gives them an air of power without going too bold and assertive

- Fighters wear yellow to show their competitive edge

- Inventors wear green which is known as one of nature’s most restful colours which stimulate creativity

Engineers who are generalists should stay with neutrals such as gray or black, while those in design fields may wear more unusual colours such as turquoise or purple to be more creative

Clothes affect our lives in many unseen, yet powerful ways. Clothing is designed every day to make us feel empowered and express, who we are inside. The message that you send as soon as you step outside may have nothing to do with what’s in your head.

When it comes to colour specifically, it can represent a person in all kinds of ways. It can be representative of the culture you belonged to, who you are as a person, and how others perceive you!

Talking about perceptions, people make countless assumptions based on colours that range from whether someone is confident or naive.
